Thomas McMahon Superintendent Enacted a Positive Discipline Approach

The recipient of summa cum laude honor at graduation, Thomas McMahon Superintendent possesses an outstanding academic background, having earned his doctorate from the Rutgers University’s New Brunswick campus, New Jersey. In 1986, he started working as a Business Education Teacher at the Toms River Regional School District where he helped create a business simulation for South Western Publishing. While at Wall Township High School he implemented an entrepreneur simulation that taught students how to design and market a new product.. He also served as a staff development trainer at the Toms River School District. At the age of just 27 years, Thomas McMahon Superintendent achieved the position of Vice-Principal of a K-8 school district and was assigned the responsibility of training staff on middle school philosophy. He followed a positive discipline approach and evaluated as well as observed grade 4-8 teachers.

While working as an Assistant Superintendent/School Business Administrator at Plumsted Township School District, he created a business partnership program that raised more than $850, 000. Thomas McMahon Superintendent was offered a post as Middle School Principal in another district, but he chose to stay at the Plumsted Township School District. Thomas was also instrumental in assisting in the creation of a $4.5M professional development network with the college of New Jersey. As an Assistant Superintendent at Toms River Regional School District, he established many new technology learning center in the district, and created a technology department. Thomas also served as the secretary of the New Jersey Association of Middle School Educators Executive Committee and as a workshop presenter at the NJ State Department of Education.

Aside from being active in the education industry, Thomas McMahon Superintendent is also engaged in community service and is the chairman of Watchful Shepherd Program. This organization aims at raising a strong voice against the child abuse and protects children from family violence. He is also one among the Board of Trustees of Community Medical Center, and WAS ON the Board of Directors for the Association of Retarded Citizens, Ocean County. In appreciation of his exceptional contribution to the society, he was honored with J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award in 1998.
