Thomas McMahon Superintendent Attended The Jersey City State College

Thomas McMahon Superintendent received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Political Science from Monmouth University, New Jersey. He received a 3.91 grade point average out of 4, with summa cum laude honors, and stood seventh in the entire college graduating class. He was inducted into five national honor societies, including Business, Political Science and Leadership. He holds a double major in Business and Political Science and was employed full time throughout his college career. After graduating, he ventured into the business field and voluntarily started providing coaching to youth basketball teams. Thereafter, he also entered a teacher certification while working full time in the evening, and was conferred certifications in Nursery School, Elementary School, Business and Social studies.

Thomas McMahon Superintendent was a brilliant student and received a Garden State Fellowship, a golden opportunity given to only thirty graduate students every year in the entire New Jersey State. He obtained full scholarship to study and earned his Educational Doctorate, with a 4.0 cumulative average, from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was also invited to Oxford University to take part in 2005 Oxford Round Table. Over the course of his career, Thomas McMahon Superintendent has held many administrative positions and done a lot of work for the development of education in New Jersey.

From December 1998 to April 2000, Thomas worked as an Assistant Superintendent/ School Business Administrator at the Toms River Regional School District and established many technology learning centers in the district. He created a technology department, and successfully drafted a new incentive aid bill for New Jersey school districts. He created a $4.5 Million professional development network with the College of New Jersey and also developed an 850, 000 dollar business partnership program. While serving as the District Staff Development Trainer at the Toms River Regional School District, Thomas McMahon Superintendent led summer institutes for senior and new staff on instructional techniques. Thomas McMahon Superintendent is a generous individual who devotes a significant amount to time in the community service. Thomas McMahon Superintendent Aims At Preventing All Types Of Child Abuse

Started by Joseph Femiani in 1993, Watchful Shepherd Program is dedicated to helping children as well as their families deal with the growing evil of family violence and abuse of children. Using an easy to use technology, the organization aims at finding ways to protect children, and helps them build up confidence and strength they need to raise voice against the fears. Originally, this program was initiated to provide an electronic monitoring device to the Washington County Child Protective Services Unit so that it can improve its efforts to protect children in dangerous family situations. The Watchful Shepherd provides child victims and families with a wrist band which can activate the electronic device installed in their home. This further activates a computer monitoring system at the organization’s National Response Center that operates on a 24/7 basis, and after that appropriate actions are taken.

Watchful Shepherd Program also provides for regular weekly contact with child via telephone through any volunteer to make sure that the system is working perfectly and child is doing well. When a child who is under the threat of abuse activates the alarm, a contact is established by the organization’s unit at Response Center. After that, dispatchers try to establish voice contact with the child within ten seconds, and Response Center staff immediately informs local police dispatch. Aside from protecting children from abuse in home, this program also helps individuals who are suffering from domestic violence. Usually the sound of device and the knowledge that appropriate authorities have been informed is enough to prevent situation from becoming aggressive.

Thomas McMahon Superintendent Started Many New Curricular Programs

Thomas McMahon Superintendent is highly regarded for his contributions in the creation of 2 new K-12 districts in the state of New Jersey. His first effort started in 1997 at the Plumsted Township while the second was during 2004 at Barnegat Township School District. Before creating any of the districts, Thomas had to prove to the state that the new district would not cause any fiscal, educational or racial imbalance. For this, he created a 100-page document which was approved by the State. The next step was to convince the community and the citizens to vote in favor of creating the new districts. The project was approved, with more than 75 percent of persons in both districts voting in the favor of this new creation.

Thomas McMahon Superintendent supervised a 10 million dollar (on 30 acre campus) and a 45 million dollar (on 68 acre campus) construction project. He helped in developing new curriculums, hiring new staff and purchasing equipment for the new buildings. He started many extra-curricular programs including various sports programs, and all this was done without raising taxes. One high school attracted nearly 1000 students while the other contained 400 students. The winner of Sallie Mae National Teacher Award, Thomas McMahon Superintendent was selected from among seven summer trainers to train the Toms River teaching staff on various new teaching methodologies. He later became the Vice-Principal ofa K-8 school district at Plumsted Township at the age of 27. By following a positive discipline approach, he observed and evaluated grade 4-8 teachers. He was offered the position of Middle School Principal in another district, but he decided to stay at Plumsted Township and started providing training to the grade 6-8 teachers on the middle school philosophy. He undertook the responsibility of finding new land to built a separate middle school and assumed the position of Business Administrator once the land was acquired.

Thomas McMahon Superintendent was successful in completing a nine million dollar school project within budget and on time. He also took on the responsibility of developing new curriculum for the grades 6-8 and providing training to the entire staff. He also set a record of being the youngest Assistant Commissioner of Education in Finance for the New Jersey State. As an Assistant Commissioner of Education, he helped distribute more than 6.5 billion dollars in state aid and implemented a new funding formula.
